The Northumberland
The Northumberland cooperative building is featured in DC’s “Best Addresses.” Located in Dupont Circle, the 7-story building is distinguished by its elegant lobby and brick exterior. Now offering 67 apartments, the building was originally constructed in the early 1900’s to house luxury apartments for government officials, judges and members of Congress. These days, the building serves as DC’s second oldest cooperative, and the oldest co-op under continuous self-management. The building is now on the National Registry of Historic Places for both its exterior and interior, and received a 2009 honor for historic preservation. The building has also been featured in three motion pictures, such as Gardens of Stone, Broadcast News and Clear and Present Danger. It remains as one of Washington’s most luxurious residential buildings, with its original architectural elements left intact. Read more about the Northumberland.
