The Dresden is a Washington landmark listed in Goode’s Best Addresses. The building was designed by Alfred Beers and constructed by Harry Wardman, a 20th century developer who oversaw the design and construction of a number of luxury hotels and properties throughout the District.  Delivered in 1909 and converted to condominium homes in 1974, the 7-story building in Kalorama offers 62 residences and is known as one of Wardman’s most elaborate designs.  The building is constructed with the architectural elements of the Georgian Revival style in mind, with a distinctive curved and limestone façade.  Read more about The Dresden.

More About The Dresden

The Dresden Floor Plans

The units of the Dresden vary greatly in size and style, starting at around 875 square feet and increasing to more than 3,000 square feet of living space.  A majority of the homes, though, are around 1,500 square feet, and include an open floor plan of two-bedrooms and two-baths.  Because of the building’s shape, some of the units are slightly pie-shaped in design.

The Dresden Finishes

The embellished apartments of the Dresden are designed with spacious proportions, including high ceilings, wide hallways, and oversize windows as well as original parquet floors.  Many of the homes offer striking views of the city.  Other features include the elaborate crown moldings, custom cabinetry and other luxurious finishes including granite countertops.  Common areas of the building feature original marble wainscoting, plus tile floors and wide hallways.

The Dresden Amenities

Building amenities include a staffed front desk and doorman, garage and surface parking and a pet-friendly policy.  As well, the building features extra storage opportunities for residents and an elevator.  One of the most beautiful parts of the building, though, is the exquisite rooftop garden, offering residents with unmatched views of the city below all year long.
