More About Pimmit Hills
Pimmit Hills History
Originally founded around the Mid-Century mark, Pimmit Hills started out as mostly farmland, but development took off, and now the area includes more than 1,600 homes. Originally, the homes were mostly three-bedroom, one-bath residences, and most of the homes sat on ¼-acre lots.
In more recent years, some of the older homes have since been replaced with much larger and newer homes, while other homes have been renovated and built onto. Despite some of the newer construction options that now exist, this large community is still considered one of the oldest communities in Fairfax County.
Living in Pimmit Hills
More than 70 years ago, area residents founded the Pimmit Hills Citizens’ Association, and members remain active in the community today. One of the biggest community events is Pimmit Hills Day. This annual event takes place in Olney Park, and regularly brings in hundreds of people and dozens of food and craft vendors.
Plans for this year include live music and a petting zoo, among other festivities. As for Olney Park, it’s a popular spot the rest of the year too, as it includes some tennis courts, a basketball court, some sport fields, a playground, and hiking and nature trails that sit close to area homes.
