Eisenhower Avenue Metro Station
Once a railyard, Eisenhower Avenue in Alexandria has since been redeveloped into a modernized version of Old Town. The neighborhoods sit relatively close together, but each has its own unique attributes. While historic Old Town is well known for its centuries-old buildings and brick-lined sidewalks, Eisenhower Avenue is where you’ll find high-rise office buildings, residential complexes, and luxury hotels. In terms of parks and recreation, Limerick Street Recreational Park Field sits on land that was originally unavailable to the public. The athletic fields were constructed above a wastewater facility. There’s also a local dog park in this part of Alexandria, plus Cameron Run Regional Park includes a waterpark, some batting cages, picnic shelters, and miniature golf all in one location.

With a nod to the past, nearby Alexandria African American Heritage Park is where you’ll find a 19th century African American cemetery, plus also the more recent addition of memorial sculptures. The park additionally has a wetland area that serves as home to some local wildlife and birdlife.
