Eckington is a neighborhood located in the Northeast Quadrant of Washington, DC.  Eckington was developed in the early 20th century after a street car line was extended to the area.  The close-knit community is dominated by row houses on its tree-lined streets with an industrial presence on the eastern edge of the neighborhood.

The boundaries of Eckington are Rhode Island Avenue to the north, the Brentwood Metro Yard to the east, Florida Avenue to the south and North Capitol Street to the west. Communities adjacent to Eckington include Edgewood, Brentwood, Near Northeast, NoMa, Truxton Circle and Bloomingdale.

That’s because the neighborhood was designed as a streetcar destination. Eckington originally belonged to one of the city’s earliest mayors. He named his estate Eckington after the p... Read More
