More About Douglas Park

Douglas Park Housing

It’s not unusual for older neighborhoods to have their ups and downs over the years, only to re-emerge as a trendy place to call home. In Arlington, Douglas Park may have seen some of its former residents move away, only to begin luring them back once again in more recent years.

It’s no wonder, as the neighborhood is still home to some desirable bungalows, Cape Cods and Queen Annes. Some of the older properties have been lovingly maintained and updated over the years.

Many of the older homes of Douglas Park were first built in the 1930s and 1940s. The building boom came after two subdivisions combined, and more and more people came to the DC area in need of housing, lured in by new government jobs.

Along with some of the older properties, there are also now some opportunities for brand new construction in the neighborhood. Some of the homes are Craftsman-style designs, made to fit in with the older neighborhood, while at the same time bringing a new, modern spin to the neighborhood.

The new homes of Douglas Park oftentimes offer open floorplans and all the modern conveniences that today’s homebuyers are searching for. In addition to some of the single-family homes, you will now find some condos and apartment buildings in the neighborhood, as well.

Douglas Park Location

Found right on the Potomac River, the neighborhood of Douglas Park is also where you’ll find the Pentagon and Arlington National Cemetery, plus the location is just a few miles from DC, Georgetown, the airport, and more. While you won’t find any Metro stations in Douglas Park, it’s easy to hop on a major roadway from neighboring Columbia Pike.

People who’ve now become parents themselves are no doubt looking for top area schools, and they’re finding them in Douglas Park. Children in the neighborhood attend classes in the highly rated Arlington School District.
