More About Donaldson Run

The Donaldson Run Civic Association is tasked with preserving the area and its natural appeal. The nearby Potomac Overlook Regional Park offers nature trails, a Nature Center, plus room for an outdoor concert series and even a children’s camp.

A private swimming pool and rec center sits next door to the park and is operated by the Donaldson Run Recreation Association. Partially bounded by the Potomac River, Donaldson Run additionally boasts three smaller county parks.

It’s no wonder that some homeowners have lived in the neighborhood for decades, growing up in the area themselves and then staying to raise their own families. Primarily built up between the early 1940s and early 1960s, the majority of homes in Donaldson Run are ramblers and Colonials.

However, the two decade construction span makes it possible to find a large variety of home styles, including Cape Cods, split-level homes, townhomes and contemporary-style homes. While there aren’t many new construction homes to speak of, in more recent years some of the older homes have been torn down and replaced by larger homes in the neighborhood.  Homes tend to not stay on the market very long, though, in this peaceful neighborhood.

While the neighborhood isn’t exactly in DC, it’s still close enough to enjoy its many amenities. It’s also within an easy drive of shopping, including a Trader Joe’s and  a Whole Foods Market in Clarendon
