If you ever hoped to own of the most famous condos in Washington, DC history,  Bob Woodward’s Watergate-era condo in Dupont Circle was recently listed for sale. In the last couple of days the unit at the Webster House has gone under contract and is now off the market.

It’s the same condo the Washington Post journalist lived in and used to communicate with “Deep Throat” during the Nixon scandal. Once a studio apartment, the 450 square foot home is now a one-bedroom, one-bath condo, currently priced at $349,000.

The condo includes the desirability of newer stainless steel appliances, plus an updated kitchen and bath. Along with the cozy interior of the condo, the unit also features a balcony.

For those keeping tables, it’s the same balcony where Woodward used to put a flag in a flower pot when he wanted to meet with the Watergate whistleblower. These days, the balcony provides not only some desirable outdoor space for its owner, but also allows for an excess of natural light to flow throughout the unit.

Originally built in the late 1960’s, the property also offers its residents access to a swimming pool, plus laundry is conveniently located just down the hall from the condo. The new owner will be responsible for monthly HOA fees of less than $500.

The upfront cost and monthly fees, however, put the new owner in a prime location for not only tracing our nation’s history, but also enjoying an array of opportunities. The location of the infamous property is likely ideal for many potential condo buyers.

Found in Dupont Circle, the Webster House condo building is located just a short distance away from several DC-area sites and attractions, as well as several other high-end apartment and condo buildings. Also filled with a number of rowhouses and sprawling single-family homes, Dupont Circle is additionally home to several foreign embassies and historic landmarks, some of which date back well more than a century.
