Why Dominion Hills Arlington is a Local Favorite

Surrounded by green space and within walking distance of countless options for outdoor recreation, Dominion Hills is a true local favorite in Arlington. The community has its own small park with a playground called Dominion Hills Park, plus it’s also conveniently close to several multi-use trails and Four Mile Run.

Nearby Bon Air Park is home to a notable rose garden, picnic areas, playgrounds, and more. Meanwhile, the neighborhood is also close to tennis courts, a community swimming pool, and a skate park. 

The local Civic Association helps bring neighbors together with planned social activities throughout the year. There is also a weekend farmers market, and you’ll find some local businesses that help lend more of a small-town vibe to this Arlington neighborhood.

The leafy, tree-lined streets of Dominion Hills are also appealing, plus the neighborhood has access to some highly rated schools, making it a favorite of families. Originally home to mostly two-story Colonial Revivals dating back to the 1940s, the neighborhood has grown over the years to include some split-levels and ranches, too.

Part of the neighborhood sits on the National Register of Historic Places, noted as a large, postwar suburban development. Now home to more than 600 homes, you will only find single-family homes in the neighborhood, as there aren’t any condos, townhomes, or apartment complexes.

The peaceful setting, however, is what commonly draws people to move to the area. Many of them are long-term residents who enjoy the area for its park-like appeal, as well as its convenience.

For those who commute into DC, Dominion Hills offers easy access to the Metrobus, plus homeowners are only about one mile from the closest Metro station. About five miles from Washington, the homes of Dominion Hills are also close to major roadways in the region, such as I-66.
