Get your green on for March 17, St. Patrick’s Day! With less than a week to go until St. Patrick’s Day, the metro DC area is preparing for celebrations across the region for a very popular time of year for DC residents who enjoy tipping a few Irish ales, listening to live music, and noshing on hearty fish ‘n’ chips and Irish beef stew. It’s a day when everyone in the nation’s capital is Irish. We compiled a list of Irish bars in DC and Virginia to help you choose where to celebrate the holiday.
A perennial favorite for 40 years, The Dubliner is an Irish pub on Capitol Hill. Long a drinking hole for Senate staffers and tourists, The Dubliner is one of the area’s oldest Irish pubs and steps away from the U.S. Capitol. Many of the friendly staff hail from Ireland, and The Dubliner has a unique reputation as America’s best seller of Guinness stout and the only pub to carry an ale and Irish lager made exclusively for The Dubliner. Located in the Phoenix Park Hotel at 4 F Street, it has a large space with 2 bars, live music seven days a week, and one of the best St. Patrick’s Day parties in the region.
Ireland’s Four Courts is a friendly neighborhood Irish pub and restaurant serving authentic cuisine updated with fresh ingredients. Located in Arlington, Virginia, it is near the Courthouse Metro station at 2051 Wilson Boulevard, hosting and sponsoring special events all week leading up to St. Patrick’s Day. Beginning Sunday, March 8, Ireland’s Four Courts sponsors a DC Parade Fundraiser with live music, Irish dancers and live auction. There are Irish-themed Happy Hours, Irish Brunch, Irish Karaoke and a Jog and Lager Four Miler Race and Fun Run. The week also includes a special 3-course Guinness Dinner.
