Pleasant Plains

Sure, it brings to mind a “pleasant” place to live, and that may be exactly what led to the name Pleasant Plains in the first place. Back in the 1700s it’s said that a farmer bought up a large amount of undeveloped land where the neighborhood now sits. His family named part of their estate Pleasant Plains, which it remains to this day.


Kalorama may sound unusual to some, but that’s because it’s Greek. Kalorama actually means beautiful view in Greek. A poet in the early 1800s coined the name for the house he lived in because

It’s now one of Washington’s DC’s hottest areas to live, filled with well maintained Victorians and Craftsman-style row homes. The vibrant Trinidad neighborhood includes some homes that have been recently renovated, with others currently in the middle of new updates.

That wasn’t the case just a few years ago, though. The neighborhood of Trinidad that we know today was at the time in need of updates. Generations old, many of the historic homes of the area desperately needed a facelift, as did the rest of the neighborhood.

Originally named Trinidad by a former landowner who spent time on the Caribbean island, the area we now know as the Trinidad neighborhood started as a country estate. Later deeded to a university, the

Once burdened by a more unsavory reputation, DC’s Trinidad neighborhood is by all accounts these days a neighborhood on the move. The modest community is clean and filled with well-maintained yards. It’s also a vibrant neighborhood where homes sell quickly.

Filled with restored Craftsman and Victorian-style rowhouses, many of the older homes of Trinidad have since been turned over to condos in recent years. While not all of the properties have been renovated just yet, it’s not hard to find the signs of progress all across the community.

You’ll find a number of properties under construction right now in Trinidad. You’ll also find residences getting a simple touch-up of paint, plus newly planted flowers and landscaping dotting the properties.

Filled with a unique selection of older Victorian-style homes and Craftsman-style row houses, the Trinidad neighborhood is one of the hottest DC locations for new residents. This vibrantly hued neighborhood contains quite a few recently renovated properties, with some in the midst of remodeling projects right now.

In fact, that seems to be a continuing theme throughout the neighborhood, sorely in need of a facelift just a few years ago. These days, though, the neighborhood is coming back, as new homeowners are lured by an enticing selection of homes ready to put on their own finishing touches.
