The Dresden in DC's Kalorama neighborhood

A DC landmark, The Dresden, has a prominent spot in the James Goodes DC real estate bible, “Best Addresses.”  As one of the most elegant and grand buildings in the Kalorama neighborhood in northwest DC, its reputation is well earned.  Renowned developer Harry Wardman took pride in the construction of the Georgian Revival-style Dresden, which features spacious and traditional generous floor plans.  Magnificent views of DC toward Taft Bridge can be seen by many of the units of The Dresden, located at 2126 Connecticut Avenue, NW.  It is near two Metro Stations along the Red Line, the Woodley Park and the Dupont Circle stations.  Residents can also hail taxicabs along Connecticut Avenue.  The Dresden is close to the White House, Reagan Washington National Airport and the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.  It’s also a pedestrian-friendly area to walk, earning a “walk score” of 90.

Kalorama is home to a community of distinguished residents and several embassies.  A charming and quiet residential neighborhood, Kalorama borders Dupont Circle with a large number of restaurants and shops.  Kalorama hosts a weekly Sunday farmer’s market selling everything from fresh blooms to locally grown produce.  Rock Creek Park on the northern edge of Kalorama is a popular site for recreational activities, with its paths for walking, jogging and bicycling, as well as areas for horse trails and dog parks.

The 1910-built Dresden has stood the test of time as a classic symbol of timeless elegance, and remains one of DC’s premier addresses.  Converted in 1974 from rental apartments to condominiums, the 7-story, 62-unit building still enjoys an old-fashioned Doorman to greet residents; other amenities include a 24-hour staffed front desk and Concierge, garage parking and a beautiful rooftop garden.  The rooftop garden offers a lovely oasis from the boisterous city life.  Condos range in size from 1,000-3,200 square feet.  The condos feature gracious tall ceilings, hardwood floors, oversized windows and crown moldings.  Exquisite architectural details of the common areas and wide public hallways are lovely touches throughout The Dresden.  Interior touches boast original marble wainscoting, and tile floors with Greek-key borders.  The beautifully curved exterior façade of the building faces grand Connecticut Avenue and Kalorama Road, a commanding site.
