The Cooper: Reimagined Georgian Luxury in Kalorama

For reimagined Georgian luxury in Kalorama, it’s time to come home to The Cooper. The enchanting property is a recent conversion project that took a late 1800s-era Georgian-style mansion and re-made it into 17 condominium homes.

Prior to the condos, the grand home was used as a bed-and-breakfast. For condo owners, The Cooper adds the advantage of plenty of charm and more than a century of character.

The gracious property comes with a large front porch, a lawn and gardens. Set far back from the street, the exterior of the brick building easily blends in with the surrounding neighborhood, while its interior is distinctly modern in design.

No two units are exactly the same in The Cooper. Some units come with a balcony or patio, while other units are two-levels with a loft. One unit in the building comes with a covered and screened-in balcony.

The condos inside the building start at around 450 square feet of living space. That is the smallest one-bedroom unit the property offers.

Some of the larger one-bedroom floor plans, however, include around 700 square feet. The largest unit in the building provides two-bedrooms and two-baths, with nearly 800 square feet of living space.

Two of the condos occupy the property’s original carriage house. One is a one-bedroom unit while the other unit offers two-bedrooms. Each of these condos comes with its own private patio and vaulted ceilings.

Developers completely gutted the building on the inside, adding in things like white oak flooring, crown molding and heated marble floors in the baths. You’ll also find such high-end features and finishes as quartz countertops and high-gloss cabinetry.

The condos were designed to appeal to young professionals and those searching for a second home in the city. The Cooper sits within walking distance of the Woodley Park and Dupont Metro Stations. Some parking is available for an added fee.
