Sure, DC is well known for its historic sites and its political ties, but the city also has a romantic side. Some of DC’s most popular locations also make fantastic spots to pop the question. If you’re searching for some of the best places to propose in DC, you certainly have plenty of options.
One of the most beautiful is the Tidal Basin during the springtime. This is the time of year when the iconic cherry blossoms begin to bloom, making it a fantastic spot to get some naturally scenic proposal photos. Keep in mind that thousands of people may be trying to get their own photos, so you may have to fight the crowds depending on where you are, especially during the National Cherry Blossom Festival.
United States National Arboretum
The National Arboretum is another naturally beautiful place that makes for a great proposal spot. The arboretum consists of 500-acres of plants, flowers, and even an herb garden. You can set up a picnic lunch for your proposal in the National Grove of State Trees. If you love the spot for a proposal, you’ll probably also love it as the location for your upcoming garden wedding. Event space is sometimes available in select locations around the arboretum.
National Gallery of Art- Sculpture Garden
If you love the arts, the National Gallery of Art could the best spot of all. Not only will you find thousands of works of art in the gallery, but a sculpture garden outside includes six-acres of green space. During the winter season there’s an ice rink set up.
If you want a birds-eye view of the DC area, you can always head up to the VUE Rooftop. The 11th story rooftop bar sits above Hotel Washington. Depending on the size of your upcoming nuptials, you may be able to reserve the attached Sky Room for your wedding reception.
