Found not far from Georgetown University or from several area neighborhoods, the park was originally named after two former landowners, now overseen by the National Park Service.

McLean Gardens is a historic residential community located in Northwest DC along Wisconsin Avenue, just north of Cathedral Heights. Over the years the political elite, white-collar professionals and diplomats have called McLean Gardens home. The McLean Gardens community was originally built in 1942 on the estate of John McLean, a former publisher. He wanted to provide his estate as temporary housing for wartime defense employees.
