Stephanopoulos Selling in Georgetown
Another multi-million-dollar property just hit the market in Georgetown, and this one has ties to a big name. The detached home once belonged to Good Morning America anchor George Stephanopoulos and his wife.
One of just two homes on this particular block of 31st Street, the home is now on the market for close to $7 million. Originally constructed in the early 1900s, the six-bedroom, 6.5-bath home offers more than 7,000 square feet of living space.
Included in that is a generous amount of room for entertaining. The large home is said to have a grand foyer accented with herringbone-patterned flooring. The home also boasts high ceilings.
The red brick Colonial additionally offers such luxuries as a media room, a home gym and an elevator. In addition, the property comes with an attached garage, a private patio and a garden.
Other additions to the home include a large eat-in kitchen, a formal living room and large windows allowing for plenty of natural light to flow throughout the home. Of course, the prestigious Georgetown address is also, no doubt, one of the home’s major selling points.
The upscale community is known for its grand homes and high-end shopping. The homes also sit close to the campus of Georgetown University. As DC’s oldest neighborhood, Georgetown delights locals and visitors alike with cobblestone streets and landmark buildings, plus a river waterfront lined with things to do, from restaurants and shops to outdoor adventures.
As for the home on 31st street, Stephanopoulos and his wife originally purchased the property in 2006 for $5.2 million. They sold it in 2010 for $5.45 million.
Stephanopoulos has previously owned a Dupont Circle rowhouse and a smaller townhouse on 28th Street in Georgetown. The couple has reportedly also owned a number of other properties in Manhattan and in East Hampton.
