National Landing Parks
With millions of square feet of commercial space and upwards of 100-acres of land ripe for development, National Landing provides plenty of appeal overlooking the DC area. Set right alongside the Potomac River, National Landing, however, is also known for its green space and outdoor recreational possibilities at area parks.
Crystal City Water Park
Options include the Crystal City Water Park in Arlington. The park offers up a great place to sit and relax with friends and family. While not necessarily a water park in theory, there is a fountain at the park and it provides a relaxing location to listen to the rushing water or sit under the shade of one of the tables and area benches. You’ll find live music on certain summer nights for added enjoyment of those of all ages. The park also sits close to accessing the Mount Vernon Trail, often bringing walkers and joggers to the park. You’ll additionally find some bike racks in the area, as many people bike the local trails.
Long Bridge Park
Yet another option is Long Bridge Park with more than 30-acres of open space and recreational place. Found just north of Crystal City, Long Bridge Park includes several lighted, multi-sport fields plus a number of walkways and exceptional views of area monuments. There’s also a rain garden that helps maintain the plant’s landscaping, a turf playing field and playgrounds for the younger crowd. The park is also said to be a great place for bird watching.
Potomac Yard Park
In comparison, the Potomac Yard Park includes sports fields of its own, along with tennis courts, basketball and volleyball courts, picnic space and an ADA playground. Other additions to the park include biking and walking trails and an interactive fountain for cooling off during the warmer months and days of the year.
