Hollin Hall Village: A Pleasant Little Community
Known for its friendly neighbors and an active group of community volunteers, Hollin Hall Village presents a pleasant little community experience. First planned out and constructed in the 1940s, Hollin Hall is now made up of more than 600 homes and two shopping centers. That certainly hasn’t changed, however, its more peaceful setting.
The walk-able area provides its residents with a drug store and grocery store, plus some restaurants and specialty stores. You’ll find many of the businesses here are locally owned and have been for years, while you’ll also find a senior center, day care and other daily conveniences.
There’s also a baseball field for kids to play. On top of this, residents are additionally located just a short walk away from the Mount Vernon Park Swim and Tennis Association for added enjoyment.
Many of the traditional homes in the area are solid brick and mostly single-story floor plans. Prospective residents will also find some more affordable options in this area than some of the other surrounding neighborhoods.
Homes started going up in the 1940s, but many residences of Hollin Hall Village were constructed in the early 1950s. While that hasn’t stopped some developers from tearing down homes in the area and constructing new residences in their place, some neighbors continue to work to retain the quaint appeal that’s kept families around for generations.
In fact, the community just celebrated its 75th anniversary, with live music and family-friendly fun for those of all ages. That same sense of small town appeal makes it common to see neighbors out for a walk with their kids or their dogs.
Part of the Mount Vernon District, the village is only about 10-miles south of DC, yet it retains a uniqueness all its own. It’s a place where neighbors are proud of their high quality of life and of the peaceful nature of their community.
