New choices in townhome-style living are coming to Takoma. The northern DC neighborhood is now seeing the sale of units within Georgia Row at Walter Reed. These urban units, developed by Elm Street Development and Craftmark Homes, bring a selection of new condo units with multi-level floor plans to the area.

With your choice of one-, two- or even three-bedrooms, the units are set up with a kitchen and living room on the main floor, plus bedrooms on the upper and lower floors, offering a sense of privacy while maintaining open floor plans throughout. Buyers have their choice of everything from kitchen hardware and finishes to countertops and hardwood flooring. The units also come complete with crown molding on the main level, high ceilings, maple cabinetry and quartz countertops in the kitchens. As well, the homes include several energy efficient design elements.

The first homes of Georgia Row at Walter Reed are set for delivery in early 2017, priced starting in the mid $300,000s. Buyers may also purchase available off-street parking. Additionally, the building includes secure, intercom access.

Close to downtown Silver Spring and not far from a Metro station, the area also provides easy access to entertainment possibilities, plus shops, dining and area museums. Located just adjacent to the planned Walter Reed redevelopment project, future plans in the area include office space, a hotel, a town center with green space, a grocery store, charter schools and retail, as well as additional residential units. The greater plan for the area also calls for many of the historic buildings to be preserved.

Takoma has already seen some redevelopment in recent years, bringing in more businesses and residents to the area, while maintaining many of the historic homes that dot the area. It is also home to the old Takoma Theater, constructed in the early 1920s.
