Exploring DC’s Golden Triangle Neighborhood
Steps away from the White House and the museums on the National Mall is an area in DC called the “Golden Triangle.” This stretch of 43 blocks is prime DC real estate where businesses thrive due to a constant stream of workers, residents and visitors. The Golden Triangle runs from 16th Street to New Hampshire Avenue, N.W. and Dupont Circle to Pennsylvania Avenue, N.W. The Golden Triangle is known as both a neighborhood and business improvement district that encompasses most of DC’s central business district.
In addition to businesses and top office space, there is an extraordinary abundance of restaurants representing cuisines from all over the world. Seven of the top restaurants listed in the Washingtonian’s 100 Best Restaurants 2012 guide are in the Golden Triangle neighborhood. Upscale retailers flourish here as well, including Brooks Brothers and Burberry; 30 apparel retailers in all represent luxury to mass-market stores. There are 12 jewelers, salons and day spas, health clubs and 7 hotels.
This is a highly accessible and walkable neighborhood. There are 3 Metro stations located here: Farragut North, Farragut West and Dupont Circle. For pedestrians, there are plenty of sidewalks lining the busy main streets. For visitors or employees, the area is accessible by car and houses 25,000 parking spaces. At the heart of the Golden Triangle is a 4 block long raised median adorned with stunning seasonal plants and art. The neighborhood can also boast 6 national Parks.
