Dwight Howard Selling DC Condo
DC’s largest penthouse is back on the market. Former Washington Wizards player Dwight Howard recently listed his 10,000 square foot penthouse in the old Pierce School building for $2.475 million. The penthouse takes up the top two floors of the old schoolhouse, complete with soaring, 30-foot high ceilings and some original brickwork. Reportedly the property also retains some of its original charm, including a design that incorporates some of the building’s old lockers, cubbies and chalkboards.
The bedrooms, office, kitchen and living areas have all be reworked to fill the space of former classrooms in the schoolhouse. The large unit features a two-story living room with a wet bar and brick fireplace.
It also offers a large gourmet kitchen with a massive island, plus a master suite with a custom fish tank in its marble, walk-in shower. A staircase leads up to a private rooftop patio with sweeping 360-degrees of the surrounding neighborhood.
Other unique design elements of the penthouse include its private movie theater and massage room. In all, the penthouse offers a total of five-bedrooms and 4.5-baths.
Blending a desirable mix of the old and the new, the penthouse brings in some industrial style elements, while at the same time staying true to its original architecture. The light-filled condo also features large windows and an open floor plan that’s truly unique.
Home to less than 10 units, Pierce School Lofts also provides its residents with access to an on-site swimming pool, a gymnasium and an outdoor kitchen lounge. Converted in recent years, the old schoolhouse dates back to the late 1800s.
Along with the penthouse loft it also features a number of other creative floor plans. Howard purchased the penthouse after signing with the Wizards in 2018, but only stayed for about a year. He’s since moved on to the LA Lakers.
