Yet another of President Donald Trump’s Cabinet picks is laying down new roots in the DC area, the latest being Dr. Ben Carson, the nominee for Secretary of Housing and Urban Development. According to published reports, Dr. Carson purchased a home in Vienna last month. Sold for upwards of $1.2 million, the more than 6,300 square foot home includes five-bedrooms and 4.5-custom baths.

Other upgrades in the home include the in-law suite in the finished lower level, a two-story great room, complete with its own wet bar, and a three-car garage. Constructed in 1993, the Colonial-style home also offers a gourmet kitchen with stainless steel appliances and granite countertops, plus the luxury of multiple patios and porches, supplying the option of additional private outdoor living space, overlooking the 1.5-acre lot.

First put on the market for upwards of $1.3 million in June, the home is simply a short drive away from Meadowlark Botanical Gardens and from Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts. Ranked one of the best places to live in the U.S. by Money magazine in recent years, Vienna is also home to a section of the Washington & Old Dominion Trail and supplies a variety of small shops in its quaint downtown.

Dr. Carson and his wife, Candy, additionally own an estate in Baltimore County and just last year purchased a more than $4 million dollar home in a gated, golf-course development in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. A home belonging to them in West Palm Beach is currently on the market for more than $1 million.

The couple reportedly purchased their new home in Vienna the day after Dr. Carson’s nomination cleared a Senate committee. The retired neurosurgeon is currently awaiting a full vote by the Senate. In the meantime, though, the couple is wasting no time in making a home in Vienna.
