DC Neighborhoods With Distinctive Architecture

DC is full of unique offerings, including some distinctive architecture. You’ll find a wide variety across some of the area’s most popular neighborhoods.

Dupont Circle

If red brick row houses and condos are what you’re searching for, you’ll find plenty of options in Dupont Circle. The majority of homes in the neighborhood tend to retain a uniform look.  Dupont Circle has some impressive options if you’re looking for Colonials and Victorian-style architecture. The neighborhood has several historic buildings.

Adams Morgan

Art Deco is the style in Adams Morgan. This diverse neighborhood is known for its narrow streets, filled with 19th and 20th century rowhouses and apartment buildings.

Georgetown

Georgetown is one of DC’s truly upscale neighborhoods, filled with Colonial-style row homes lining cobblestone streets. Most of the homes tend to reflect their historic roots, painted in hues of white and cream to preserve the neighborhood’s unique past.

Kalorama

The Kalorama neighborhood is widely known for housing a mix of Colonials and Beaux-Arts style buildings. While the area is, no doubt, home to some impressive embassies, you’ll also find some Victorians, Federal-style homes and condos in the neighborhood.

Mount Pleasant

DC’s Mount Pleasant neighborhood stands out for its Tudor-style homes. Many of these homes went up in the early 1900s and remain popular for their European-inspired dark wood and pointed rooflines.

U Street Corridor

While Modern architecture isn’t exactly the norm in DC, you’ll find it just a couple of blocks from the U Street Metro Station. This small area in Northwest DC know as the U Street Corridor is home to several unique homes, which truly stand out from the rest.

Takoma Park

Another style you won’t find very often in the DC area is the classic bungalow. You will, perhaps though, find some of these one-story homes if you take your search outside of city limits to suburban Takoma Park.
