DC is for you if you are young and single. DC comes in at #3 on a list of Top 10 Best Cities for Singles. San Francisco and New York are #1 and #2, respectively, for singles. For unmarried people, DC is financially attractive and socially satisfying, plus offers a dating scene equal to none. Rent.com, a rental apartment search site, based its list on safety, single adults 20 years and older, overall population, nightlife, variety of dining and frequency, and concentration of coffee shops.
While DC is filled with Type A career-driven professionals, the city is also a great place for singles with lots of social and athletic activities to keep you busy after work with like-minded other singles in the nation’s capital. There are plenty of political fundraisers, softball and volleyball games, and coed flag football on the National Mall to meet other young adults and socialize. Out of a population of 623,996, 38% are single adults.
A similar study by NerdWallet.com places DC at #2 as the Best City for Singles, after calculating the percentage of unmarried people, number of bars and restaurants making up the city’s social scene and date affordability.
