If you’re looking for a place to ring in the New Year, DC is full of options. We found several “can’t miss” New Year’s Eve activities going on in and around the DC area this year. From a masquerade ball to a family-friendly celebration, it’s all happening this New Year’s Eve.

Capital Gatsby Gala

Take a trip back to the roaring 20s at The Showroom with the Capital Gatsby New Year’s Eve Gala. The event features multiple food stations and an open bar, plus a champagne toast at midnight.

International Spy Gala

Play the part of James Bond for the night with a spy-themed celebration.  The International Spy Gala is a black-tie optional gala at the Washington Plaza Hotel. The evening features an international buffet, an open bar, a mock casino and a live band.

Masquerade Ball

You don’t have to dress like a spy at this next event, but how you deck yourself out is part of the mystery. The Masquerade Ball is a night of fun at Umaya in City Center. Tickets to the ball include appetizers, a DJ and a one-hour open bar.

RiverBash2020

Head down to the river with RiverBash2020. It’s the place for adults to ring in the New Year in what’s dubbed as a “wild New Year’s Eve celebration”. Expect to find live music, dancing and eight bar locations.

Potomac River Cruise

Staying down by the waterfront, take in the lights and the sounds of the holiday season with a Potomac River cruise. The Spirit of Washington and the Odyssey both have New Year’s Eve cruises planned, complete with food, live music and dancing.

First Night Alexandria

If you’re looking for a family-friendly night of fun, head to nearby Alexandria. First Night is an alcohol-free celebration packed with games, a scavenger hunt and live performances for those of all ages.
