buzzard point - washington dc

Situated at the meeting spot of the Potomac and Anacostia Rivers, Buzzard Point offers dramatic views and plenty of character. Located in DC’s Southwest quadrant, Buzzard Point sits on a peninsula at the confluence of the two rivers.

A similar name appears on maps as early as the 1600s when European settlers began exploring the area. It then went through a couple of more name changes over the coming years and decades.

At one point, George Washington and Pierre Charles L’Enfant, the man who laid out the original design for DC, designated the area we now call Buzzard Point for military usage. By the early 1800s, the arsenal had tripled in size and Congress had approved the construction of more buildings in the area.

berkley - washington dc

Surrounded by parks on three sides, the Berkley neighborhood not only offers desirable green space, but also iconic embassies and educational institutions. This suburban neighborhood is situated in DC’s Northwest quadrant, and despite its pricey real estate, remains relatively unknown to many outside of the region.

With Wesley Heights Park to its north, Battery Kemble Park to its west and nearby Glover-Archbold Park just a stroll away, you’ll find no lack of green space in this enviable DC neighborhood. The location naturally isolates the homes of Berkley from some of their more urban counterparts.

While primarily a residential neighborhood, it just so happens Berkley is also home to the Embassy of Germany and its home to the Mt Vernon campus of

crestwood real estate - washington dc

Offering the best of both worlds, Crestwood blends urban and suburban living in Northwest DC. This diverse neighborhood sits close to some of DC’s better known neighborhoods, yet retains a peaceful and quiet vibe, surrounded on three sides by Rock Creek Park, yet also close to everything you need and want in the region.

Originally part of a 300-acre estate, the first single-family homes weren’t developed in the community until the early 20th century. Most homes in Crestwood still sit on large, well-kept lots and rarely come on the market.

It’s an especially appealing location for those interested in a larger home with more outdoor space. Some homes standing in the neighborhood date back to the 1920s and 1930s.

Many homes are brick colonials

If you’re looking for a great place to call home, DC and Alexandria not only fit the bill, but they may also help put you on the path to success. According to a new study, both locations are highly successful places for women.

The study comes from SmartAsset.com. The website looked at 200 of the largest cities in the nation, then ranked them to find out “Where Women Are Most Successful”.

SmartAsset looked at a variety of different things, including median earnings for full-time working women and the percentage of women in a city who hold a bachelor’s degree. Analysts also considered housing costs as a percentage of a woman’s earnings and the percentage of women business owners in each city.

Spring Valley - Washington DC

From its tree-lined streets to its rolling hills, the Spring Valley neighborhood has long attracted some of DC’s most prominent residents. Found in Northwest DC, affluent Spring Valley offers a mix of historic estates and sprawling new construction, which often comes at top dollar.

Much of the neighborhood’s development began in the late 1920s. Over the following decades, some retail and office space construction joined Spring Valley, as well.

However, unlike a typical city grid, Spring Valley was designed so that its streets actually conform to the rolling hills of the neighborhood itself. When new homes were added, developers took care to design homes around the natural landscape of the area, including preserving trees.

These days, the
