Arlington’s Bluemont Ranks as Top American Neighborhood
More and more people are starting to discover what locals have known about Arlington for years. Not only is Arlington a great place to live, but the Bluemont neighborhood is now ranked at the very top of a national list.
Niche.com, a well-known ranking website, recently came out with its list of the “2019 Best Places to Live in America”. Perhaps not surprisingly, Arlington’s Bluemont neighborhood took the number one spot.
Bluemont received an Overall Niche Grade of an “A+”, with a notable “A+” grade for its public schools, its nightlife and for being good for families. The neighborhood received a solid “A” for housing, outdoor activities and the commute, plus a “B+” for jobs and diversity.
According to Niche, Bluemont neighbors enjoy more of an urban feel, close to local parks, restaurants, bars and coffee shops. Home to a number of young professionals, a majority of people living in Bluemont own their homes. The median home value in the neighborhood tops $696,000, while the median rent sits at $1,784.
Niche took into account a variety of different criteria to come up with its list, including the cost of living, public schools and the education rate, crime, diversity, nightlife, health and fitness, jobs and the commute. It used its own research, plus gained information from the FBI, Census Bureau and other federal agencies to come up with the ranking.
Bluemont was one of four Arlington neighborhoods to make the list for 2019. Colonial Village came in at number seven, Radnor/Fort Myer Heights came in at number 10 and North Rosslyn took the number 16 spot.
Separately, Niche also ranked Bluemont in the number one spot for “2019 Best Neighborhoods to Live in America” and gave it a number nine ranking for “2019 Best Neighborhoods to Raise a Family in America”.
