Arlington Ranks #3 on Top Family Friendly Cities

If you’re searching for a new place to call home, Arlington just picked up another big honor. It was just named one of the best places for families.

The honor comes from Opendoor.com. The online real estate platform recently came up with a list of what it considers “The best cities for families”, and Arlington is number three on the list.

The ranking considered area schools, nearby open space for families to explore, plus locations with more of a small-town feel, yet the amenities of a larger city. Opendoor credits Arlington for having plenty of room for families to play outdoors, as well as neighborhoods with a strong sense of community.

In addition, it points out Arlington is packed with restaurants and coffee shops. Altogether, Arlington received high marks for its family-friendly amenities, its local businesses, its schools, and its transportation options.

A representative of Opendoor points out Arlington is both bikeable and walkable, with lots of parks, plus its close enough to several area museums that are good for the entire family. In Arlington and elsewhere, analysts looked at family-friendly indicators nearby, such as museums, gardens, parks, and community centers. They also looked for things like playgrounds and picnic sites, swimming pools, schools, and supermarkets.

Found right across the Potomac River from DC, Arlington is home to several great neighborhoods, like Shirlington with its tree-lined sidewalks and local boutiques, and culturally diverse Columbia Pike. Make a visit to the year-round farmers market in the neighborhood or check out the amphitheater in Rosslyn’s popular Gateway Park.

As for the rest of the family-friendly list from Opendoor this year, Cambridge, Massachusetts came in at the very top of the list, followed up by Cliffside Park, New Jersey. Chandler, Arizona and Tracy, California came in after Arlington to round out the top five.
