Arlington Most Dog-friendly Place in Country
There’s no doubt it’s a great location to live, work and play, but now it turns out Arlington is also a great place for man’s best friend. Arlington just received top nods when it comes to the most dog-friendly places in the country.
The honor comes from Yelp, which looked at cities all across the nation before coming up with its list of the most dog-friendly cities. According to Yelp, Arlington and some of the other top contenders are not only friendly locations for dogs, but area businesses often welcome them inside.
The reviews website came up with its list by looking at the number of page views in relation to restaurants, bars, hotels and beaches allowing dogs, page views for dog walkers and page views for dog parks. Yelp makes mention of the ease of places such as Paramount Café in Crystal City, the patio of The Celtic House Irish Pub & Restaurant on Columbia Pike, plus Ambar in Clarendon.
While just a handful receive special mention by Yelp, there are actually dozens of locations in Arlington that cater to pets and pet owners. From pet-friendly hotels and vacation rentals to dozens of area restaurants, it seems Fido is a welcome guest at a number of different locations in the area.
You’ll also find numerous off-leash dog parks, from the large separate running and playing areas of Shirlington Dog Park to the fenced-in location of Fort Barnard Dog Park. While Barcroft Park welcomes leashed dogs, Clarendon Dog Park is covered with mulch to cut down on muddy paws.
You’ll also find some dog-friendly hiking trails and annual events, ranging from PetOberfest in Woodbridge to Pups in the Park at Nationals Park. From vets to pet sitters, dog walkers to kennels, Arlington certainly caters to a diverse crowd, including, it seems, the four-legged variety.
