Brand new condos are headed to Walter Reed. The grand opening of The Brooks is coming up next month, where developers plan to soon present a collection of one-, two- and three-bedroom condos.

The Brooks is part of phase one of The Parks. It’s the first for-sale property to debut in The Parks; a growing community set at the site of DC’s former Walter Reed campus. Sales appointments begin soon where prospective buyers can get a closer look at the possibilities.

That campus is already home to a number of historic buildings, with sites like The Brooks planned to fit in with the unique surrounds. While the outside of the building will have a more traditional red brick appearance, the interior of The Brooks will be much more modern.

A great place to live, work and play, it turns out Alexandria is also a fantastic location for man’s best friend. Several publications recently put the area near the top of the list when it comes to the nation’s most dog-friendly cities.

Redfin, a real estate brokerage, teamed up with Rover, a dog-walking service, to come up with a list ranking Alexandria in the 16th spot. The website mentions the area has a walk score of 60 and about three-percent of listed homes for sale mention “dog” in their online listings.

Expedia also considers Alexandria a dog-friendly destination. The city is filled with dog parks, both fenced and unfenced, depending on your preference. There’s also the option of hopping on Mount Vernon Trail, and taking a walk

Brand new condos are headed to Arlington’s Court House neighborhood. 2000 Clarendon plans to bring more than 80 new luxury condos to the area, with delivery right now scheduled for spring of next year.

Reports suggest nearly half of the new condos will be one-bedroom, one-bath floor plans. Ranging from around 620 square feet to nearly 740 square feet in size, buyers can expect the condos to start priced in the high $400,000s.

Other options include around a dozen slightly larger floor plans with one-bedroom plus a den. Buyers will also have the choice of dozens of different two-bedroom, two-bath floor plans.

New luxury condos are now on the market in Shaw. Sales just began at Perla, one of the latest mixed-use developments coming to the area this year.

The nine-story property will eventually be home to 66 residential units and thousands of square feet of street-level retail space. Long considered a great place to live, it seems Falls Church is also one of the healthiest place in the nation to put down roots. The city was just designated the third healthiest community by U.S. News & World Report.

The publication studied nearly 3,000 counties and jurisdictions all across the U.S., then ranked the highest 500 communities. Researchers took into account 81 separate indicators.

They included everything from food and nutrition to public safety and population health. The study went way beyond traditional health categories, however.
