Certain DC’s neighborhoods certainly have a reputation for being exclusive. However, while a former president, lobbyists, big names in the media and politicians all call swanky Kalorama home, it isn’t tops when it comes to DC’s wealthiest ZIP codes.

That honor goes to ZIP Code 20015, ranked as the most expensive in DC, at least according to The financial website looked at cost of living data from across the nation, then put it together with mortgage data and median home value data collected from Zillow.

Then, the website calculated the area with the most expensive ZIP Code. In the DC area, that honor went to a neighborhood straddling the Maryland border, south of Silver Spring and Chevy Chase.

The news is positive for Arlington homeowners, as the location just picked up top honors when it comes to its healthy housing market. According to SmartAsset, a financial research firm, Arlington is at the top of the list for Virginia and also ranks high when comparing it to some of the nation’s other large housing markets.

The study credits this to a good supply of homes in the area. SmartAsset takes into account several criteria when predicting whether homeowners in certain areas are at a low risk of losing money when its time to sell their home.

The factors include risk of loss, fluidity, affordability and stability. With Arlington in particular, the area ranks high when looking at housing demand. While nationwide homes

A multi-million dollar Georgetown condo is now off the market. The property, formerly owned by Ted Leonsis, owner of the Washington Capitals and Wizards, reportedly went under contract and sold.  Leonsis had the 2,500 square foot condo on the market for $3.2 million. According to records, he purchased the unit in 2009 for $2.59 million. Along with a multi-million dollar price tag, the property also mandates monthly homeowner’s association dues topping $2,000.

Located within Wormley Row, the property is the conversion project of an old schoolhouse, made into upscale condos and townhomes about a decade ago. The building, itself though, dates back to the late 1800s.

capital bikeshare - arlington va

A new section of a popular bike trail is coming to Washington Boulevard, with plans to open it up to cyclists and pedestrians later this fall. The new trail runs between Towers Park and 2nd Street, projected to give cyclists and pedestrians better access to a trail that already runs alongside Washington Boulevard.

Phase one of the existing trail takes cyclists from Arlington Boulevard to Walter Reed Drive, soon to link up with phase two, which is the section currently under construction. That could happen sometime within the next few months.

Over the past few weeks construction workers have been hard at work adding in a retaining wall and storm drains to the area, with the addition of new asphalt and stonework next on the agenda.
