cleveland park washington dc

Once a neighborhood of mostly summer estates, complete with large windows and even larger porches, the Cleveland Park of today is more of an urban suburbia, enticing residents with its tall trees and urban space, yet remaining comfortably close to Downtown Washington. Named after President Grover Cleveland in the late 1880s, the neighborhood is filled with historic sites and a mix of late 19th century homes and more modern designs.

In fact, there are as many as 3,000 single-family homes, condos, apartments and duplexes that make up Cleveland Park. Expect to find everything from contemporary residences to quaint cottages, townhomes, Georgian Revival-style homes and Queen Anne Victorians. Many homes are priced from around the mid $600,000s to the

westlight condos dc

While the DC area is filled with luxury condos and upscale amenities, one particular building isn’t even finished yet, but already people are camping out for a chance to own a piece of the property. The Westlight condos are currently under construction, located between 23rd and 24th. When finished, residents will be able to simply walk to Downtown, the White House, Dupont Circle or Georgetown.

It’s that convenience, paired with the sheer luxury of the building, that had prospective buyers lined up overnight a few weeks ago, all vying for the chance to obtain one of the buildings first 20 contracts as soon as they were released. The two separate towers of the glass façade building will soon entertain dozens of rental units plus another 71 luxury

world wildlife fund building dc

With just weeks left in his second term, President Obama is making plans to trade up Pennsylvania Avenue for the West End. The current president is the latest tenant to sign on for office space in the area, making plans to soon relocate his office to the World Wildlife Fund headquarters building.

Owned by the WWF, the nonprofit leases out space in its building to other tenants, including a law firm and now, the sitting President. The group has been a supporter of President Obama’s efforts in battling climate change while in office, and the building itself was awarded Platinum LEED status by the U.S. Green Building Council. The structure includes a massive ”green” roof plus solar panels, recycled materials and it includes electric and hybrid car

reston town center

If you want to keep parking at Reston Town Center for free, one option is to purchase a nearby condo. Starting in early January 2017 the area is going to change over from free garage and street parking to a paid parking system for visitors. It will likely be a big change for those who have been able to park in the garages for free since the center first opened in 1990.

The property owner is trying to cut down on the number of commuters who are currently parking in the center’s garages for easier access to the Wiehle-Reston East Metro station. While Reston Town Center is slated to get its own Metro station in the future, it likely won’t be open for another three years. For now, parking is set to increase to $2 per hour on weekdays, but will stay

Home to numerous large tech companies, two malls, retail space and hotels, Tysons Corner is truly coming of age. Once simply pasture land, the area has grown over the half-century or so into a massive business district, where an estimated 100,000 people head to work each day and one now known as the economic core of Fairfax County.

Tysons Corner Center mall first opened its doors in the late 1960s, but it took Tysons Galleria mall another 20 years to welcome its first customers. In fact, the original mall was planned out for private cars, but now area leaders see the real need for public transit in the area. While bus lines have been available for years, a new Metro Silver Line, plus improved

key & nash - 1411 key boulevard

Dozens of new high-end condos are coming to Rosslyn with the conclusion of a redevelopment plan expected to be complete sometime late next year. A former apartment complex is currently being changed over to 63-condo units where site work is already well underway.

The Arlington County Board signed off on the development earlier in 2016, giving NVRUrban the green light to construct the Key & Nash condominiums where the Metro Rosslyn Apartments once stood. The original building included 33-units and four-stories. Not only will the new development increase the number of available units, but also bring some desirable options to condo owners in the Rosslyn community. Key & Nash is set to offer such amenities as a fitness center, rooftop terrace,

king street trolley alexandria va

Just a few miles to the south of Washington DC, Old Town Alexandria is known for its quaint shops, restaurants and museums. With more and more competition coming from other nearby areas, though, some Old Town business owners are now looking for ways to keep the focus local.

That’s led to a committee considering establishing a business improvement district, or BID, in Old Town. Not only, potentially, could it help invigorate the community, but possibly also bring in new businesses to the area. That would be welcome news to those who already own businesses along the King Street corridor by filling up some of the current vacant space.

Area leaders have been looking at the long term impact of things like an expected growth in tourism across the

pence chevy chase

He doesn’t assume federal office until January but already Vice President-elect Mike Pence has moved into the DC area. Pence and his family are currently renting in Chevy Chase, a family-friendly community known for its tree-line streets and affluent residents.

It’s likely a temporary arrangement, as the Pence family is expected to move into the official V.P. residence when current Vice President Joe Biden and his wife Jill move out. The two recently gave the new owners a tour of the property they’ll live in at the Naval Observatory.

Until the time comes, though, the Pence family appears to be settled in Chevy Chase, giving him a place to call home as he heads the transition team for his future boss, President-elect Donald Trump. An online
