Blagden Alley-Naylor Court
Blagden Alley-Naylor Court offers a glimpse into the post-Civil War alley housing structures that were so common in the District during this period. Blagen Alley-Naylor Court is one of the few District alleys that remains largely intact as it existed in the 19th century. These alleyways were home to the District's poor and were predominantly inhabited by African Americans.
In 1934, Congress passed the Alley Dwelling Elimination Act and most of these homes were torn down. Neighborhood activists saved the Blagden Alley-Naylor Court structures and today they are an Historic District.
Blagden Alley-Naylor Court is bounded by 9th, 10th, M and O Streets NW.
