More About Aurora Highlands

The area has the convenience and walkability of Pentagon City, with its restaurants and shops, plus it also has some nearby green space, a library and even an outdoor ice-skating rink for residents to enjoy. You’ll find basketball courts and sports fields at nearby Virginia Highlands Park, as well as the expected future addition of Amazon’s new HQ2 not far from the homes of Aurora Highlands.

Whether heading to the nearby airport or jumping on the nearby Four Mile Run, there’s plenty of diversity when it comes to living in this part of the DC area. Convenience is key, but so is the allure of simply walking outside and meeting up with other neighbors and friends.

The uniqueness of the homes is also a big draw for many prospective buyers coming to Aurora Highlands. The neighborhood was formed by three subdivisions, mostly built up between the late 1800s to around 1930.

That’s why you won’t find many cookie-cutter homes for sale in the neighborhood. The Aurora Highlands Historic District is made up of hundreds of buildings and structures and has a spot on the National Register of Historic Places.

Around a dozen Sears catalogue homes can be found on area streets. The surrounding area also now features some apartments, townhomes, and condos for buyers to consider.

Found just to the southwest of DC, it’s easy to catch public transportation to commute around the rest of the DC area, or stay closer to home with nearby retailers, restaurants and more.
