Downtown McLean is about to get an entirely new look, with the first new construction project in years well underway, soon to bring a mixed-use development to the area. When finished, The Signet will supply more than 120 new luxury condominium homes, in addition to another 5,000 square feet of street level restaurants and retail space.
A groundbreaking back in May 2016 touched off the project, with the promise of a new, walk-able development to help transform the downtown area. The pedestrian-friendly project includes plans for a public park, walking paths and gardens, a transition of sorts from the commercial district of McLean to its nearby neighborhoods.
Amenities of the new building include a fitness center, resident lounge and a full-time concierge. In addition, The Signet sits in an ideal setting for access to the Metro and public transportation. As well, the development also includes underground parking, plus some surface spaces for visiting guests. The six levels of residential space will sit atop the street-level commercial space, with an expected delivery date possible sometime in fall of 2017.
The Signet will offer your choice of studio and one-bedroom homes, as well as some with more than three-bedrooms. Renderings detail plenty of open floor space with large windows and the addition of hardwoods. Designed by Franck & Lohsen Architects, the building is a project of The JBG Companies, with interior design by Bill Rooney Studios.
The luxury mid-rise building is located on Fleetwood Road, fronting both Fleetwood and Elm Street with a sophisticated red brick design. Noted as going up in the “heart of McLean”, The Signet is close to virtually everything in the DC area, plus in Northern Virginia, making the location an ideal setting for living in one of the most exciting new developments aimed at bringing renewed vibrancy to Downtown McLean.
