A new conversion development in the Mount Pleasant neighborhood is nearing completion and now available for sale. In a neighborhood dominated by single-family homes, there are a limited number of condo units available in Mount Pleasant, particularly on quiet tree-lined side streets like Newton Street.
The Mitchell Condominiums is a ten-unit development in a meticulously restored brick apartment building originally constructed in 1925. The project offers private outdoor spaces and covered parking with some of the units. Developer finishes at the Mitchell Condominiums include upscale kitchens with granite counters, GE Profile or Whirpool Gold stainless steel appliances, hardwood floors and built-in closets.

The long neglected mansion located at the corner of 18th and Monroe Streets in Mount Pleasant is coming back to life as a boutique condo development called The Shafer. The project draws its name from Charles Shafer, the President of American Fire Insurance Company who originally built the mansion in 1909.
The Shafer, which is expected to deliver in 2012, features 12 one and two bedroom condos in this stately structure and adjacent carriage house. The Developer, Community Three which recently delivered the Residences at St. Monica's project on Capitol Hill, plans to utilize the same unique unit floor plan designs which highlight the historic architectural features of the building.
