Dumbarton Street in Georgetown's East Village runs a mere 5 blocks from Wisconsin Avenue to Rock Creek Park.  It is a one-way street that has an east-west orientation between N and O Streets. The street is lined with older brick row houses which have been meticulously restored to their 19th century grandeur.  Mature trees and brick sidewalks enhance the beauty of Dumbarton Street.

Dumbarton Street was in the news this week as it is home to troubled IMF head Dominique Straus-Kahn.  Other notable Dumbarton Street  residents have included Henry and Nancy Kissenger, Cyrus Vance, Harold Ickes, Ben Bradlee, Kitty Kelly, and Don Ritter.  Dumbarton Street is also home to the United Methodist Church, the First Baptist Church of Georgetown, the Epiphany Catholic Church and the Rose Park Recreation Center.

Cecil Place which runs a mere block in Georgetown between Grace Street and Water Street ranks at the top of the list of charming DC streets.  Adding to the enchantment and reminiscent of San Francisco, the grade of Cecil is very steep and traffic flows one way downhill towards Water Street

The west side of Cecil Place is dominated by the Papermill Condo development and the east side is home to 12 historic row houses. These quaint row houses date back to the late 19th century when Georgetown was an industrial neighborhood and home to many of the District's tradesmen.

Above The Law reports that Supreme Court Justice Elena Kagan is in the market for a Logan Circle rowhouse.  While still slightly gritty, but rapidly gentrifying neighborhoods are not seemingly good fits for the typical buttoned-down supreme court justice........it would seem that Justice Kagan and Logan Circle are made for one another.

Previously, while working at Harvard Law School, Kagan lived in Cambridge, which is often referred to as the "Peoples' Republic of Cambridge."    While Cambridge is heavily influenced by Harvard and MIT, it does have many of the same characteristics as Logan Circle.  These similarities include eclectic restaurants, historic row houses, newer luxury condo buildings, parking challenges and neighborhood activists.  If Cambridge were a state it would definitely be colored blue!

While it was not reported what listings Justice Kagan has viewed, the entry price for a row house in Logan Circle is currently about $1M.  Logan row house prices ramp upwards based on location, quality of finishes and amenities like outdoor space and parking.

Let's hope Justice Kagan moves forward with a Logan row house. Nothing would be cooler than seeing her strolling down 14th Street or holding court at Estadio with the likes of Ruth Ginsburg and Sonia Sotomoyer.

The Edgewood neighborhood of DC, nestled between Catholic University and Brookland, is home to EYA's newest DC town home development called Chancellor's Row.  This location is just steps from the Brookland Metro (Red Line) Station and only three stops from Union Station.  The shops of Brookland including Yes! The list of pretty DC Streets would not be complete without including Newport Place.  Lined with mature trees and historic colorful row houses, Newport Place is a beautiful one-block street in the Dupont West neighborhood.
