Mather Studios - Very Cool Penn Quarter Lofts
Posted by Mark Washburn on Tuesday, September 28th, 2010 at 11:09am.
Hidden behind a conservative gothic revival terra cotta facade, is one of the coolest and most interesting residential buildings in Downtown DC. Mather Studios made history in 2003 as the first Downtown office building to be converted to residential use. PN Hoffman partnered with the DC Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) to deliver both market-rate lofts as well as 12 affordable artist studios. The artist studios are located on the 2nd and 3rd floors of Mather Studios with market-rate units on floor 4-10.
The lobby of Mather Studios sets the tone for the building with custom artwork, granite flooring and designer lighting. Shiny metallic doors leading to each residence help to define the unique style of this building. Chic design elements include exposed ductwork, exposed brick, stained concrete floors, frosted glass sliding doors and commercial-grade windows. Building amenities include underground parking, concierge, security and a pet-friendly environment.
The last unit to sell at Mather Studios was #801, a 2BR/2BA 1,244 SF unit without parking. The unit sold on 11/30/09 for $640,000 / $514 SF. Currently, there are three condos listed for sale at Mather Studios ranging in price from $624,900 to $679,000. Here is a resource to view active Mather Studios MLS listings.
